Lets get all the hippest, newest artists in taxis all over the world and record them. Why? It doesn't matter, but cool? Cool. My friend Paul Gonzalez (whose music you should check out)showed me Black Cab Sessions and I'm into it. And I'm into Fleet Foxes (who are from Seattle). And I'm into taxis. So if you add it all up it equals a win, win...win.
It took me a while to recognize the local scene in Utah but its pretty impressive. True story. Joe Castor released his solo album at the end of 2008. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. And love Joe.
How about my favorite dancer in the world, Thom Yorke? Grammy’s, Radiohead and USC's marching band. Can never get enough of this band and In Rainbows, which of course was nominated for 5 awards. Radio in la Cabeza maybe probably my favorite band ever.
Saw Ben Kweller on Friday. That’s a man I will never get tired of. I think I love him. Love all his albums, including his new one (Changing Horses), love him even more live, and I just love him. With all his popularity he has avoided the pretension and musical snobbery that most artists can’t help but adopt. Seriously love this man.
Today I bought “Furr” Blitzen Trappers album on vinyl. It’s been playing endlessly, because its one of those albums that can play endlessly without getting tiresome. I'm into that booming bass and, of course, the wailing harmonica. What could possibly be wrong with the recycled sound of old Bob Dylan slash Neil Young?
Favorite line- “But you better be sure if your making God a liar”
Blitzen Trapper is making there way out to Salt Lake City March 12th.
Bon Iver was one of my favorite artists of 2008. For a while For Emma, Forever Ago was playing constantly in all quarters of my existence. Downstairs on my computer, upstairs on my ipod, in my car and in my head. This is my favorite song on the album
Favorite line “Everything that happens is from now on.”
